Steeped in precision
In 1962 Alfredo Colombo founded his Company and started his activity. Today, in memory of that first milestone, the headquarters of Verderio still host the first lathe, blue painted to recapture the colours of the production departments and enshrined in a glass case for protection with the dignity of a museum piece.
The dialogue between tradition and modernity is a constant for Torneria Automatica Alfredo Colombo. The precision that in the sixties characterised simple parts made of brass is the same found today in the most sophisticated pieces.
Over the years machines and equipment have changed a lot. And the needs of the Customers as well. In the nineties Alfredo’s son and daughter Vincenzo and Cristina introduced in the Company project management, design, mechanics and electronics. Orders started to arrive from new Customers and their requests became more and more specific and complex. To meet new Customer needs and to increase the production, in 1994 Torneria Colombo bought three plants (each one dedicated to a specific production technology) and moved to Lomagna. The first CNC mono-spindle lathe arrived in 1996 and in 2000 the first mechanical multi-spindle machines were introduced in production.
In 2004 the Company moved to Osnago in a new building with more functional spaces and with a renewed organization. In 2005 also CNC multi-spindle machines arrived in the Company.
It is a continuous production. A process that never stops, with a production of more than 250 million pieces per year. Different items, same passion since 1962.
The pursuit of excellence: investments in technology and in working environment
Every year machines and technologies are improved and upgraded with the aim to reach perfection and excellence. In 2006 100% control and sorting machines were introduced in the Company and in 2010 the entire washing dept. Was renewed with the use of vacuum and ultrasound technologies. In 2011 the new assembly and testing department was set up, as well as the department for the construction of special tools. In 2014 a facility constituted by two plants was opened in Verderio and the new working environment, more efficient and effective, became a place where working times and spaces definitely met the needs and the expectations of all employees with training room, canteen, garden, improved cleanliness, order, product enhancement and customization of areas. In 2022 the purchase and the total renovation of a third plant, which hosts today the Accademia Meccanica Alfredo Colombo, completed the Company dream.
